Walk through almost any well-designed building and you'll often see where design met compliance. The space is refined, the finishes are considered, then above the door sits a bulky exit sign that feels like an afterthought.

For years, that compromise was accepted. Emergency lighting was necessary, but rarely designed to complement the space. Architects worked around it, and building owners paid the price in both cost and aesthetics.

We think it's time for better. Introducing Coolon Commercial: a dedicated range of exit signs, emergency luminaires and life-safety lighting designed to meet compliance requirements while enhancing the spaces they protect.

Emergency lighting isn't new to us.

Coolon has been designing and manufacturing LED lighting in Melbourne for decades, trusted on some of the most demanding industrial and architectural projects in the country. Emergency lighting is not a new territory for us either. We built our first emergency-capable fitting in 2011 for the industrial market, and many of our industrial products carry emergency features ever since.

Coolon Commercial takes decades of experience and brings it into a range, purpose-built for commercial spaces.

What actually makes it different.

The difference shows up in the details. Our signature GuideSlim exit sign range is one slim aluminium profile with five ways to install it, from surface, back and recessed through to a suspended wire sling that carries power through the wire itself, leaving no visible brackets, boxes or loose cabling.
GuideBlade carries a single architectural blade aesthetic from the front entrance all the way through to wet areas and external egress, so the signage never breaks character once it leaves public view.
The Ori range holds one clean round face across recessed, surface and IP65 versions, so the ceiling stays consistent even when the specification changes.

None of that comes at the expense of compliance. Every product in the range is AS/NZS 2293 compliant, with self-test capability throughout, which makes the range as straightforward to maintain as it is to specify.

Where it goes next

The range launches with products that look better and work harder. The future lies in what emergency lighting can become. Every fitting is elevated, permanently powered and routinely inspected, which makes it an ideal backbone for a connected building. Through our open-protocol BCL network, emergency lighting can move from a compliance box-tick to a genuinely connected part of the building, ready to carry a range of future smart capabilities to suit whatever a site needs next, with no proprietary software required.
