A Familiar Face in a New Light: Partnering with Filipp & State of Light

We're excited to share some news that feels like more than just a business update.

Coolon has officially appointed State of Light as our exclusive Architectural distributor for Victoria. For those who have been around the industry for a while, the name behind State of Light might ring a bell. It is run by Filipp Starikov, who spent over 13 years with us at Coolon, from 2011 to 2024.

During his time here, Filipp became a well-known and trusted face across our Architectural Division, working closely with clients and colleagues to help shape the way Coolon approached architectural lighting across Australia. After more than a decade with us, he moved on to broaden his experience with an international lighting company, taking on a fresh perspective and building on everything he’d learned.

Now, he's back. Not as an employee this time, but as a commercial partner, having launched his own venture, State of Light (SOL).

For us, this partnership is about more than a distribution agreement. It’s a chance to work again with someone who genuinely understands our products inside out, shares our deep commitment to local design and high-quality Australian manufacturing, and knows what we are building in Victoria’s architectural lighting space. Few people bring that depth of history and alignment to a new partnership.

We are looking forward to what this next chapter brings, and we are proud to have Filipp and the State of Light team representing Coolon across Victoria.
