Maya: One Name for Every Line of Light

Look closely at a well-lit interior and you will rarely see the light source. You see the edge of a cove holding a soft line of light. A joinery reveal that catches the eye without shouting. A wall that seems to glow from nowhere in particular. The luminaire doing that work is hidden, linear, and picked as much for the space it has to fit as for the light it has to make.

For years we answered those spaces one product at a time. Slim, Multo, Forma, Max Mini UG and Electro each did their job, and did it well. But they arrived separately and they behaved separately. Different input voltages. Inconsistent manufactured lengths. Different cutting increments. Different power per metre. Different generations of LED. Different naming logic. A designer moving from a cove detail to a vertical accent on the same floor plan was, in practice, starting again.

So, we rebuilt the whole thing.

Maya is seven indoor profiles under one name, running on one voltage, cutting to one set of lengths, and lit by one set of LEDs. Products that were always related, now built like a family.

The Number Is the Width

Every Maya profile carries its width in its name. P17 is a 17mm profile. P45 is 45mm. Some are close round figures rather than exact ones, and the flanged versions measure wider again, but the order never lies. The higher the number, the wider the profile and the more light it will move.

Multo appears twice because Multo was never really one product. It carried several different profiles under a single name, and a specifier had to read the part code to know which one they were getting. The polycarbonate profiles are now Maya P16, the aluminium ones Maya P17, specified separately because they are used separately. Maya P53 is new, the largest and most powerful profile in the family, based on our Maxis and Mira extrusions.

What We Fixed

This was never a cosmetic exercise.

Slim, Max Mini UG and Electro ran at 42V, with their own cutting lengths and wattage versions. Multo ran an older generation of LED. Each product had been developed to answer its own brief at its own time, and the result was a set of products that looked like a family and behaved like strangers.

Every Maya profile now runs on 24V DC, chosen for the widest driver and control compatibility. Every profile cuts in 37.5mm increments. Every profile shares the same manufactured lengths, so a detail that works in one profile works in the next. Every profile is lit by the same current generation of LED. Power steps are consistent, from 10W/m at the compact end to 54W/m at the top.

The light distributions are unchanged, and Maya remains an indoor only range. Every variant now runs on On/Off, DALI, DMX or Casambi control, which was not always possible with the 42V products.

The previous names are retired. Slim, Multo, Forma, Max Mini UG and Electro remain on the website under the discontinued products filter, so an existing specification can still be traced back to the product it was written against.

One Family, One Colour

Because the whole range now shares one LED platform, it also shares one set of bins. A Maya P10 tucked into joinery and a Maya P45 lighting the wall above it carry the same colour, which matters far more on site than it does on a datasheet.

Maya is available from 1,800K to 6,500K, CRI 90+ across the range.

Where Each Profile Shines Brightest

Maya P10

Maya P10

10W / 20W | 408 to 1,508 lm/m Ultra-compact aluminium extrusion for tight and unassuming locations. Ideal for joinery, cabinetry and direct lighting.

Maya P16

Maya P16

10W / 20W | 536 to 1,625 lm/m Reinforced, diffused polycarbonate extrusion with a profile shape that produces a smooth 210 degree beam. Ideal for cove lighting.

Maya P17

Maya P17

10W / 20W | 329 to 2,622 lm/m Compact aluminium extrusion with the widest diffuser range in the family: standard diffused, semi-diffused, clear and diffused black, plus a flanged profile for recessed mounting in ceiling rebates. Ideal for direct view applications.

Maya P20

Maya P20

10W / 20W | 207 to 1,437 lm/m Compact aluminium extrusion that mounts as a suspended pendant or a surface fitting, with glare reduction options and 90-degree corner sections. Ideal for suspended runs and anywhere glare control is required.

Maya P36

Maya P36

20W / 36W | 540 to 2,108 lm/m Aluminium extrusion with reach well beyond what its size suggests. Ideal for direct view runs and for lifting a vertical surface, where the glow carries up the wall and falls away softly.

Maya P45

Maya P45

20W / 36W | 721 to 2,808 lm/m Medium sized rectangular extrusion with strong reach. Ideal for direct view runs and for lighting surfaces from a concealed edge.

Maya P53

Maya P53

30W / 54W | 994 to 3,820 lm/m The largest profile in the family, and the most powerful. Available in a flanged profile for recessed mounting in ceiling rebates. Ideal for direct view runs and for carrying a glow across the tallest surfaces.

A Name With History Behind it

Multo has been specified into Australian projects for longer than most products in our catalogue, and it remains the most widely used profile in the range. Maya UG was built on much the same profiles, with one important difference. It introduced the LEDs that now light every product in the family.

Multo gave the range its shape. Maya UG gave it its light. Bringing them together under one name is not a reinvention. It is a recognition that they were always doing the same job at different scales, and that a designer should be able to move between them without changing vocabulary.

Made Here, Finished Properly

Maya is our premium linear range, and everything about it is built that way. Extruded aluminium profiles. Powder coating held to a standard that survives being looked at closely, in an interior, under the light it is producing. Designed, engineered and manufactured in Melbourne, by the people who answer the phone when a client calls about it. It is covered by our five-year warranty, backed by the service our customers have come to expect.

Work on Maya IP, our outdoor version of the family, is underway.

One name, every line of light.
